Behind Crimson Eyes are back!

Over the past year, Behind Crimson Eyes slowly made their way back into the music scene and we could not be happier (well we could have been if they had announced their comeback AFTER we posted this recent article) but we finally have new material from the boys ahead of their appearance at UNIFY next year.

The first bit of new music in 8 years is here in the form of ‘Stardust‘, and a new goal for the band who are now determined to make change in the world with their music:

It’s been 11 years since we released A Revelation for Despair, and 9 years since we released Self-Titled. It’s over this period we realised just how fleeting and precious the time we have on this earth is. With that in mind, we decided that Behind Crimson Eyes should serve to inspire people to make a positive impact on the world; to improve the happiness and well-being for everyone, now, and in the future. Stardust marks a new beginning for Behind Crimson Eyes; one of purpose and ambition. We believe this will be the most important and heaviest music we have ever written.

To celebrate the news, we grabbed the band’s latest member, ex-Take Us To Vegas guitarist (and legend) Liam Hennessy to see how he’s fitting in and what’s next for the band:

Mate you’re on fire right now, how’s life been since joining the band?

“Awesome! It’s been a very easy process from already knowing the guys for years, so it seemed very natural and like I had already joined years ago. I just got to be myself from the start, which means 1000 Dad jokes a day, oh and play music.”

Fuck yeah, it’s always great having an easy transition. Are the boys making you work twice as hard to prove your worth though?

“I’ve been working pretty hard I’ll admit, not to prove my worth, but because I actually want what’s best for the band.”

Great to hear mate. Being a fan of the band when you were younger is it a surreal feeling playing onstage or jamming with the guys now?

“When I got the call from Dan (drummer) to fill in on the ‘Alexisonfire Tour’ I was in my work clothes driving home, so without hesitation I said yes. It never became real until they flew me down for a rehearsal 2 weeks before the Tour and then next minute I’m in Perth for the first time ever on stage playing these bangers. It rules”

Living the dream! You’re also donating 25% of the profits from ‘Stardust’ to cancer.org.au how’d you boys come up with this plan?

“Well, we got talking about the importance of life, and with the band having such a huge bracket of time off, we have all experienced new life being born and older life leaving us. A huge factor of losing life for us personally was Cancer, I myself lost a few family members over the past years and thankfully had my Dad just make it through his battle years ago.”

“However this is just me, but we know it’s a main factor as why LIFE gets cut short for others. We just see life as the most important thing and science can help everyone get the most out of theirs.”

Absolutely, well it’s a great plan so well done on going through with it. Back to music, any sneaky whispers of an album on the way to follow?

“There’s more to be released don’t worry haha. I’m still new remember, I can get sacked if I tell too many secrets. I’ll tell you this, we are going to… (sorry you’re breaking up bro)…
