Motörhead releasing cover album in September; check out their Bowie cover
When though Motörhead‘s Lemmy Kilmister passed away back in 2015, the icon’s legacy still lives on through his music and memories of fans across the globe and we’re going to be treated to another memorable collection of Motörhead goodness when their Under Cöver album is released on September 1st via Motörhead Music.
The album will feature covers from the band over the years including ‘God Save The Queen‘ by Sex Pistols, ‘Rockaway Beach‘ by The Ramones, Judas Priest‘s ‘Breaking The Law‘ and the song which earned the band a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2005, Metallica‘s ‘Whiplash‘. But the big drawcard is their previously unreleased cover of the late David Bowie‘s ‘Heroes‘ which was recorded in 2015 during their Bad Magic sessions with Cameron Webb and was one of the last songs the band recorded together.
“It’s such a great Bowie song, one of his best, and I could only see great things coming out of it from us, and so it proved to be,” says Phil Campbell, “and Lemmy ended up loving our version.”
“He was very, very proud of it,” says Mikkey Dee, “not only because it turned out so well but because it was fun! Which is what projects like this should be – fun!”
