Chester Bennington, frontman for Linkin Park, Dead By Sunrise, Kings of Chaos and at one point Stone Temple Pilots has taken his own life, aged 41 in Los Angeles, on the Birthday of his good friend and former mentor Chris Cornell, who also took his life earlier this year.
LA County Department of Medical Examiner Brian Elias, told Rolling Stone:
“Shortly after 9 a.m. this morning, we were notified by law enforcement of a death in Palos Verdes Estates, We responded to the scene and unfortunately confirmed that Mr. Chester Bennington was deceased at the scene.”
His LP bandmate Mike Shinoda also confirmed the news via twitter, indicating a statement is on it’s way.
Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.

A huge shock to the system as fans and music lovers unite online sharing their utter disbelief of a man who not only took over the music industry in the early 2000‘s but the movie world as well featuring in films such as the Crank series and Saw VII.
We’re thinking of his family and friends at this difficult time. If you or anyone you know needs help with their own mental well-being call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
