Everyone remembers the first band they ever saw live, the fear of the unknown, unsure what they’ll play or if stories from friends saying they got bashed in the mosh-pit were true and would happen to you… no? Just me? Alright then!
Grinspoon took my concert attending cherry back in the mid-2000‘s at the Uni Bar on the Gold Coast and can I say all of the above happened! Elbowed in the face, squashed against the barrier until I could barely breathe, borderline blacking out due to heat in the non-aired venue but once thing is for sure, my love for attending gigs was out of control following it.
These four boys from Lismore have grown so much as musicians it’s easy to see why they’re one of our most loved bands that all of us have seen at least once in our travels and when they announced their hiatus in 2013, everything for me stopped. I didn’t want to see the end of the band but knew they all had other things going on, family life, producing, other musical endeavours and frontman Phil Jamieson‘s recent stint in American Idiot: The Musical. BUT this morning they’ve announced the hiatus is over and they’re reforming for the 20th Anniversary Tour of their breakthrough album Guide to Better Living which spawned the iconic songs DCx3, Just Ace and Champion.
The tour in June will see the boys starting Victoria before heading up and down the East Coast extensively for the next few months performing the album in full (plus fan favourites) and they’ve officially released the album on vinyl too which expands the original 16-track album to a mammoth 49 track feast of rarities, live tracks and unreleased recordings and, for the very first time, in the form of a limited edition red vinyl pressing; pre-orders are here
Tickets for the tour go on sale to the public 9am Monday 10th April here
Telstra is offering their customers an exclusive Telstra Thanks 48-hour pre-sale on most shows from 9am Wednesday 5 April 2017
Velocity Frequent Flyer is offering a pre-sale window for a limited time to Velocity members, available via Velocity Live from 11am Friday 7 April 2017 until 8am Monday 10 April 2017.
