Linkin Park release not so heavy single "Heavy"
17 years ago a band by the name of Linkin Park burst onto the scene with an exceptionally mind blowing debut album called Hybrid Theory. They were part of the wave of nu-metal bands who popped up at the time and have been going strong ever since. With a follow up album as good as Meteora it was right then and there that they established they were here to stay and leave their mark on the music scene. Minutes to Midnight in 2007 started to see a turn in direction for the band and their first example of changing things up (with quite possibly their best song with a break down 'Given Up'). A Thousand Suns saw the band hit worldwide mainstream following their attachment to the Transformers Movie soundtracks with their final single for the franchise 'Iridescent'. Living Things had more of an electronic than rock feel to it and The Hunting Party was quite possibly their best release in years they also had time to record an album under the alias bring Me The Horizon and for the past 3 years we've been waiting for something new to feed our ears and prove the band haven't gone off track too far removed from what we've known and loved them for... well, we're still waiting.
This morning though the band released a band new song from their forthcoming album One More Light which is scheduled for release in May. The song features singer Kiiara (yeah we had no idea who either) and to be honest, it sounds like a leftover from a Justin Bieber or Chainsmokers studio session. Over produced and auto tuned into next week, it doesn't even sound like Linkin Park. Noticeably absent is Mike Shinoda from the track and I'm sitting here three listens in trying to wrap my head around it but can't find the words other than, utter shit. If this is a taste of what's to come, I certainly look forward to giving this one a miss...
