Perth’s Armageddoom Festival returns Sept 23 featuring ACID KING and DR COLOSSUS!
Fuzz Factory Touring have held Armageddoom WA’s annual music festival of doom, fuzz, stoner, sludge and drone since 2013. The first festival of its kind in WA has grown in success, scope and popularity over 3 amazing years. This year features ACID KING (USA), DR COLOSSUS (Vic.), BAYOU, SKULLCAVE, OHM RUNE, KING ZOG and is set to destroy Perth’s Rosemount Hotel September 23!
Founded and fronted by tough, motorbike riding and guitar slinging Lori S, Acid King have been kicking out the stoner rock and doom metal jams since 1993. The three- piece have released four albums (all produced by the esteemed Billy Anderson), toured with no less than High On Fire, Fu Manchu and The Melvins and played as warm-up acts to Sleep, Hawkwind, Spirit Caravan, The Obsessed and The Mystick Krewe of Clearlight to name a few. In 2015 Acid King released their long awaited fourth full-length album ‘Middle of Nowhere, Centre of Everywhere’ which has been well received by old and new fans alike.
Having toured throughout the US and Europe multiple times and Japan and Australia once, Acid King are now poised to undertake their second Australian tour, as the headline act for the Doomsday Festival 2016 as well as other dates.

Melbourne’s ‘Simpsons themed doom rock duo’ Dr. Colossus continue their extremely serious musical joke by releasing their first piece of vinyl. A limited edition red 7” featuring an ode to ‘Kamp Krusty’; (A Side: Shut Up And Eat Your Pinecone!) and the Springfield holiday of ‘Whacking Day’; (Side B: Whack Sabbath). The record is just a small taste of what’s to come as work on their debut LP begins.
Featuring ‘Dr. Jon’ on vocals and guitar with ’Dr. Johnston’ on drums, Dr. Colossus harnesses the stoner-rock/doom stylings of Black Sabbath, Kyuss and Sleep to craft songs based on episodes of everyones favourite cartoon of disfunctional characters… The Simpsons.
Their 2014 ‘IV’ EP sparked a great deal of interest both locally and internationally through not only it’s wacky concept but the genuinely serious musical output. UK blog ‘Ride With The Devil’ lists the EP in their Top 10 Releases of 2014 and Australian blog ‘Metal Obsession’ list ‘IV’ at #4 on their ‘Best EP’s of 2014’. The EP attracted the attention of underground German label ‘Totem’, who pressed 30 limited cassettes of the EP which sold out instantly.
So impressed with their live show, Cherry Rock Festival booker James Young booked them for the ‘Cherry Rock 2015’ lineup alongside US giants ‘Red Fang’, ‘The Shrine’ and NZ’s ‘Beastwars’. The duo also invited to support Beastwars during their Melbourne appearances.
