Its been a while since we’ve whipped up one of these bad boys for your viewing pleasure but so much has happened in the past week, even we found it hard to keep up.
Firstly lets kick things off with a few tour announcements.
We were lucky enough to score the ExclusiveFirstAnnouncement of Panic! At The Disco‘s return to Australia in 2017. This will be the first Brendon Urie and co.’s first time back since ripping up the stage at 2014‘s SoundwaveFestival and fans can expect a huuge sound at some of the bigger sized venues where songs from the newest album “Death of a Bachelor” will be played to Aussie audiences for the first time. Tickets go On-Sale Tuesday July 5th via Pre-Sale here and General Public on Thursday 7th Julyhere. Unfortunately no Adelaide shows at this point in time.
Suicide Silence are making their return to Australia as well, hitting up all capital cities and Newcastle. Having only visited us back in 2014 they promised they’d be back soon and they’re definitely men of their word. Tickets On Sale 9am Tuesday 5th July2016 via: http://tickets.destroyalllines.com/ more on that tour can be found here
Also announced this week former emo rockers Yellowcard have revealed they’ll be hanging up the instruments as a band following a widely successful 17 years together (amongst a short 2 year hiatus). They’re planning a massive World Tour Farewell to also coincide with their last ever album; a self-titled record which will be released on September 30th. The tour rolls into Perth on Feb 15th 2017 and finishes up in Melbourne on Feb 23rd. Frontier Tour Pre-Sale can be nabbed Tuesday July 5th from here and General Public Thurs July 7th from the outlets below.

They’ve also released a brand new song/video appropriately named “Rest in Peace” from the forthcoming release which is complete with nostalgia filled memories from their time as a band.
While we’re on the topic of new music Sum 41 completely blew us all out of the water with their comeback track “Fake My Own Death” earlier this week which exceeded all expectations and showed those Blink-182 boys how to do a proper return to form. The band (now featuring former guitarist/shredder DaveyBaksh aka Brownsound) have a new album out on October 7th called 13 Voices and if this song is an indication of what we can expect, I’ll be lining up early to get my hands on a copy. The video features a very healthy looking DeryckWhibley and band fighting off internet memes and trends including Kim Kardashian‘s fat arse.
On the slightly heavier side of music, California metalcore act Of Mice & Men seem to have taken inspiration from Slipknot with their latest offering “Pain“. While they still have their signature guitar sound, front-man AustinCarlile combines both screaming and husky unclean vocals, an indication his voice may be giving way like other metalcore singers before him. Could we see the makings of a new direction for the band in a similar fashion to Bring Me The Horizon? Only time will tell. Their new album Cold War will be available September 9th.
A band who have gone though more members than you have clean underwear this week (you know its true) is Taking Back Sunday and this week they announced album #7 is on the way, titled TidalWave. Each song on the album will in some way shape or form reference water so and the title comes from one of the songs with the same name… of course. You can get your hands on this one September 16th via HopelessRecords/UNFD. Until then, check out the new song/video below
Brisbane’s very own The Brave who just kicked off a tour supporting Dream On, Dreamer in South Australia last night have finally revealed their forthcoming debut album Epoch will be released with UNFD on August 5th. These guys are seriously going to be the next big Australian act, following in the footsteps of fellow label mates In Hearts Wake and Northlane. They killed it with their opening slot on ParkwayDrive‘s Gold Coast show and fans have been eagerly anticipating their new release. To coincide with the news, they also released a video for first single “Searchlights“, not bad for a band who only formed back in 2013. Definitely one to watch this year.
With plenty of tours on the way, new albums to be released and bands to interview, we will do our absolute best to cover all the stuff you want to hear and none of the crap along the way. Earlier this week we also gave our thoughts on the Best of 2016, so far… a collection of what has made us excited and what we’re anticipating for the rest of the year, have a browse and let us know your thoughts too. Until next time though, rock the fuck out and enjoy the week ahead \m/
Descendents have a new single out too (and album almost here?)
Love Taking Back Sunday’s ‘old-skool-sounding’ song. Really grabbed me. Sum 41 new one good too. 🙂
