EXCLUSIVE: Panic! at the Disco Announce 2017 Australian Tour

With a career spanning over 12 years, an absolute banger of a debut album, a few line-up changes and countless visits to Australia, one thing about Panic! at the Disco that has remained the same is front-man Brendon Urie‘s drive to exceed expectations and prove he’s more than just a one hit album wonder. Starting out in Sin City (Las Vegas) he was exposed to the entertainment industry at a very young age and with the global commercial success their 2005 album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out had, it was easy to see they wouldn’t be calling it a day anytime soon, even after losing half their original members in 2009.

Following their second (and very interestingly directed) record Pretty. Odd. in 2008, lead guitarist Ryan Ross and bassist Jon Walker parted ways and Panic! continued on as a two piece with Brendon up front and Spencer Smith continuing on as the band’s drummer (who only just departed the band last year), where they released a further two albums (Vices & Virtues in 2011 and Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die in 2013) both of which weren’t as critically acclaimed as their first two releases, but still managed to produce fan favourite and commercial radio hit songs such as “The Ballad of Mona Lisa“, “Ready To Go (Get Me Out Of My Mind)” and “This Is Gospel“. Around the same time the band scored the theme song “New Perspective” to the 2009 teen horror movie Jennifer’s Body starring Megan Fox which proved they were still one of the most bankable bands around at the time (similar to how Blink-182 songs were used in almost every teenage movie of the late 90’s early 2000’s).

Fast forward to 2015 and Panic! at the Disco‘s latest album Death of a Bachelor is quite possibly their best piece of work since their critically acclaimed first album. Brendon Urie who wrote and recorded all the songs on the record (with some additional writer help) has a vocal range which exceeds expectations and his ability to perform any type of song he tries his hands at is evidence enough he is a talented force not to be reckoned with. With a combination of pop-rock, semi-crooner ballads, and synth genre-crossing dance-rock, there is something for absolutely every fan, new and old.

Making his first appearance back in Australia since 2014‘s Soundwave Festival, fans can be assured they’ll hear a much wider variety of tracks throughout the past 12 years and with some of the bigger venues picked to house Panic!, the sound will be the best experience you’ve ever had seeing the band.
