WINNER – ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2015

We’ve featured a band and/or Wall of Sound writer every day since December 1, reeling off his or her best albums, songs, videos, shows etc. Some have been bizarre (to say the least), some more mainstream, some surprising, either way, it’s been a great insight from within the music industry on who they think deserves the title of best for 2015.

Wall of Sound has gone one step further with all the information gathered, awarding votes on a 5-4-3-2-1 basis for album and song of the year and 3-2-1 for music video of the year. So basically, it’s Australian and international artists voting on their peers with a few spud writers thrown into the mix.

Song of the year was taken out by Bring Me the Horizon with ‘Doomed’, and the band have added to that winning Wall of Sound’s inaugural ‘ALBUM OF THE YEAR’, with That’s the Spirit!

The album released September 11, 2015 features a step away from the band’s metalcore roots and headed to more rounded heavy rock style more along the lines of a heavier Linkin Park. Vocalist Oliver Sykes, even cited alternative rock bands, Radiohead, Interpol and Jane’s Addiction as influences on That’s the Spirit. The band had six tracks featured from the album as nominations for ‘Song of the Year’, so it was hardly a surprise that the band has won the coveted ‘Album of the Year’ from this website.

Voted by a host of Australian bands with a few international bands and Wall of Sound writers….congratulations to Bring Me the Horizon on ‘Album of the Year’!
