Ganbaru to release debut full length album, ‘Declaration’ October 23rd

Ganbaru – roughly translated, means persistence, tenacity, doggedness and hard work. The five piece Melbourne hardcore crew embody this principle.

The band has been tested on every level. Be it legal challenges, tour car crashes, member changes and multitudes of other setbacks, Ganbaru have never come close to throwing in the towel. In fact, Ganbaru have tackled every obstacle head on, and have used every set back as fuel to create their debut album Declaration. They will release the album independently on Friday October 23rd (with pre-orders available from Wednesday October 7) and today they have also released their video clip for lead single, “Bleeding Hearts.”

The band laid everything bare as they entered Legion Studios to create an album worthy of living up to the meaning and spirit of the new name. With producer Julian Renzo (Jack The Stripper, Confession) pulling the strings and Sam Johnson recording drums at 3 Phase Studios, the band was tested at every turn and encouraged to dig deeper than ever before.Alongside Renzo’s overall production, mixing duties were handled by Cameron Webb (Pennywise, Ignite, Motorhead, Megadeth) who delivered his renowned clear yet crushing sound, while leaving mastering duties to godfather Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Rancid, Public Enemy, Metallica).

Drummer Joel Cairns is relieved and excited to finally be releasing the album. “We had a whole lot to prove – we had to rename the band due to a legal challenge, we had car accidents to recover from – and we stepped up to create an album we are stoked with.”

Ganbaru are supporting King Parrot on a run of WA shows and Daybreak in Melbourne to celebrate the release of the album. The WA show will mark  a spot on Perth’s Bloodstock Festival.
br fest 2015The result is thirteen hard-hitting tracks of punchy melodic hardcore. Fast, fun and full of heart, ‘Declaration’ ebbs and flows from the outset until the final chord rings out. Rapid fire riffing collides with hook laden melody lines, while bouncing rhythm’s are enforced with harsh vocals screaming lyrics of positivity and social awareness. The trademark Ganbaru crew shout’s and sing-alongs are plentiful, the delivery honest and passion undeniable.
