ICYMI – Week Ending 5th July

ICYMI, the week started off with Machine Head concluding their epic ‘An Evening with Machine Head’ shows at the Astor Theatre in Perth. Another sold out show another 2 and 1/2 hour monstrosity that the fans will talk about for a long long time in those parts. Even Robb Flynn was suitably taken back by Perth’s willingness for mass circle pit and wall of death action. Epic.

Controversial deathcore aussies, Thy Art is Murder have undoubtedly been this week’s most talked about band. Holy War the band’s new album has crashed into the ARIA Top 10 and on top of that they’ve released details of a headlining tour and their new video to the self titled track has caused a stir across the nation with its, let’s just say, confronting theme. See the video and read all about the band here.
In other news, Korn’s Jonathon Davis is apparently collaborating with the pale emperor himself in Marilyn Manson for a batch of acoustic tracks. If that’s not strange enough, veteran metallers, Anthrax have released a new bourbon ‘The Devil You Know’. Anthrax are currently in the final stages of recording the follow-up to its critically acclaimed, Grammy-nominated 2011 album Worship Music. The new album expected out early 2016.
On the touring front Scottish metal pirates, Alestorm return to Australia in November, touring nationally. Along for the adventure are Lagerstein. Prepare your stomach lining now as there is sure to be a bevy of rum drinking and beer guzzling at these shows. Details and tickets can be found here.

We reviewed the forthcoming album from Lamb of God earlier this week and the guys released the music video for ‘Overlord’ as well. A brooding Randy Blythe vocal that takes a turn later in the track. Awesome stuff!

Brazilian all female thrash trio, Nervosa released ‘Into Moshpit’. If you like it fast, you’ll dig this. Order their recent album Victim Of Yourself at http://shop.napalmrecords.com/nervosa

Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler has just dropped his first single, ‘Love is Your Name’ from his first ever solo album. Drenched in country rock, its one of those tracks you will either love or hate. I’m tipping the latter. (* just personal opinion)

A few bands dropped deets of their new albums for release later in the year. Greek extreme metal veterans Rotting Christ will release a live double album, Lucifer Over Athens, on August 21. Florida death metal veterans Malevolent Creation will release their twelfth album, Dead Man’s Path, on September 18.

If you prefer your metal more melodic, Queensryche guitarist Michael Wilton revealed the band will release a new album this fall. The project marks the group’s first release since a public split and two-year legal battle over the Queensryche brand with former singer Geoff Tate. As yet their is no title for the new album.

The Sword

Team Sleep, the side project of Deftones frontman Chino Moreno, has premiered the new version of the ‘Ever (Foreign Flag)’. The track, which can be streamed below, was captured last fall during the band’s live/in-studio sessions at the Applehead Recording studio in Woodstock, New York. Due on July 10 via LP/CD, the Woodstock Sessions will be the collective’s first official release in over 10 years.

Montreal-based death metallers Kataklysm will release new album, Of Ghosts And Gods, on July 31 via Nuclear Blast. They have made available the brutal track, ‘The Black Sheep’ for our listening pleasure!
