ICYMI – Week Ending 28th June
Another week passes another spate of music has whistled us by, alas Wall of Sound has you covered with the second edition of ICYMI!
There’s not a month pass by where the old Sepultura gang aren’t bashing on each other in some shape or form, this time it’s past drummer Igor Cavalera (Cavalera Conspiracy) who states his former colleagues should ‘just call it quits’, a tad harsh but these tit for tat snide remarks seem to be never ending with that clan. It seems, past history with band’s are never far from questioning for some artists which led Phil Anselmo (Pantera, Down) to state this week that he would jump at the chance of a Pantera reunion. I’m guessing Vinnie Paul (Hellyeah, Pantera) would have other ideas on that subject. Fans fascination with past endeavours and favourite line ups will never cease. Anselmo, at least, has several fingers in pies at present to soothe his animosity and is currently touring with his old hardcore buddies, Superjoint Ritual for the first time in Europe. Will we see this band on Soundwave 2016?
Mastodon’s Brent Hinds says he ‘fucking hates heavy metal’, most likely a throwaway quote as the face tattoed larrikin is known for his whimsical humour now and then, nonetheless, going from the bands more recent radio friendly singles, perhaps not? In other news, Slash has revealed that Myles Kennedy and his Conspirators will be hitting the studio again later this year to record a follow up to World on Fire, whilst hardcore legends Vision of Disorder are doing likewise albeit a guitarist shorter following the exit of Matt Baumbach. It remains to be seen if Baumbach is replaced or the band settle on a four piece line up. We shall wait and see.
Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl and his recently snapped leg is apparently worse then first thought with the revelation that he may not walk for several months. If that wasn’t bad enough the band had another confession to make, saying that all future Foo albums may be conceptual.
n the tour front, King Parrot are set to head around Australia again in August/September this time taking in some more regional centres to spread the love. Code Orange, the hardcore quartet from Pittsburgh, are heading around Oz also in late September, on the back of their 2014 release, I Am King. If those bands are a tad too heavy for your liking, alternative rockers, Lifehouse, are coming to Australia and New Zealand in support of their recently released 8th album Out of the Wasteland.
A handful of music videos were dropped this week including;
