Static X Frontman Dead at 48

Wayne static, platinum selling musician and frontman for Static X has died at the age of 48.

The band have confirmed the news on their Facebook page, saying there are no other details available. There's speculation Static's death could be drug related.

He was due to co-headline a tour with Powerman 5000 and Drowning Pool over the next few months. He only Tweeted UK tour dates a day ago.

Several fellow musicians have taken to twitter to express their sadness at the news. Fear Factory said "RIP Wayne Static.. Keep disco evil."

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor tweeted "I am absolutely devastated... A good man and a good friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends." While Anthrax frontman Scott Ian said "Goodbye old friend."
